Games from the Backlog – Spring Cleaning

Spring is here and it’s time to do some cleaning in my backlog of games, particularly on the Switch.  There’s a group of new games soon to release and I still haven’t got around to playing a sizable amount of games that I bought the past year.  For the entire Spring season I’m going to try and work my way through a few games I’ve been meaning to play, no more putting them off!   Below is what I intend to play, I will be streaming them on the Twitch channel.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap –
I’ve never played this series, and I heard great things about it.  The art style looks cool and I love old-school games, this one apparently stays true to it’s mechanics and feels like a real retro title.  I bought it on sale on the eShop last year and never launched it.

Update: I completed Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, it definitely had old school mechanics and gameplay, but it had a beautiful art style that really made the game much more pleasant to play than it’s original aesthetics.  It took a while to get an understanding of the game world/rules, but once things fell into place I found myself really enjoying the challenge and discoveries within the game.

bayonetta.pngBayonetta – I beat this before when it originally came out on the 360, but I’ve been wanting to go back and play it again ever since I finished Bayonetta 2 on Wii U.  Now that it’s on the Switch, I get another opportunity to do so.

Update: I beat Bayonetta on Normal Difficulty and got a LOT of “Stone” Awards, so I’m not very good at it!  The game got off to a bit of a slow start, and was even boring or bland at times, but the second half really picked up with a lot more variety in enviornments, gameplay and battle. I think Bayonetta 2 is the better game, as it has that intensity from start to finish, but the original is still a very good game that deserves a playthrough from fans of action/beat-em-up games and especially Bayonetta 2 fans.
